Canadian Citizenship

Canadian citizenship

Become a Canadian Citizen

The Canadian passport is one of the most sought-after in the world, owing to the country’s low crime rates, low unemployment rates, high-quality schools, and other factors. Most immigrants’ ambition is to become citizens of Canada.

To be eligible for Canadian citizenship, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. You must be at least 18 years old and a permanent resident of Canada.
  2. Before applying, you must have spent three of the previous five years in Canada.
  3. Been filing your income tax each year for the past three years.
  4. Pass the citizenship test and fulfill the language criteria (for those between the ages of 18 and 54).
  5. Take the citizenship oath.

There are certain exceptions to these requirements, and if the applicant is unable to satisfy them owing to a mental or physical handicap, IRCC may waive part of them.
